Behaviour and Discipline
The school has a long history of supporting pupils and students to reach their full potential. We remain committed to building on this firm foundation.
In the event of severe weather the Headteacher may take the decision to close the school.

Charging and Remissions
The Governing Body recognises the valuable contribution that the wide range of additional activities, including clubs, trips and residential experiences, can make towards pupils’ personal and social education.
The Governing Body aims to promote and provide such activities both as part of a broad and balanced curriculum for the pupils of the school and as additional optional activities.
The Governing Body reserves the right to make a charge in certain circumstances for activities organised by the school.
Data Protection Act
The school collects and holds information on pupils and students in order to support their teaching and learning; to monitor and report on progress; to provide appropriate pastoral care, and to assess how well the school as a whole is doing.
Helping Your Child to Learn
Parents and carers have a vital role to play in supporting pupils’ learning.
Pupil Premium is a new income stream payable to maintained schools based on the number of pupils in Year 1 to Year 11 who are:
- eligible for free school meals
- looked after children
- children of members of the regular armed forces.
The report from our recent Ofsted inspection, along with a letter from the Lead Inspector to students, whom, I am proud to say, he describes as being polite, courteous and respectful, can be downloaded...
We are committed to working in partnership with a range of other institutions and organisations to ensure the best outcomes for the young people in our care.
The PTA has been in existence for many years and continues to thrive. We aim to link the parent-child relationship with the school, to create one big Northgate ‘family’ and continue to support the school by helping to provide equipment that assists in the education of pupils and students which is not provided for in the school budget.
Reports and Benchmarking
Reports provide formal points at which we will report to you about your son or daughter’s progress.
Safeguarding Children Policy
The purpose of Northgate High School’s Safeguarding Children Policy is to ensure that procedures are in place so that every child who is a registered pupil or student at the school is safe and protected.
Sex and Relationship Education Policy
Northgate High School's Sex and Relationship Education Policy is about the understanding of the importance of marriage and family life, stable and loving relationships, respect, love and care. It is also about the teaching of sex, sexuality and sexual health. It is not about the promotion of sexual orientation or sexual activity.
School governors carry out a vital and demanding role. Much of their work is inevitably carried out away from the public gaze. However, at Northgate we have governors who support the school by attending numerous events and functions, and who welcome the views and comments of others.
At Northgate we take pride in the school uniform our pupils in Years 7 to 11 wear and ask all parents to support us in maintaining high standards.
Schools are required under the Education Act 2002 to have a procedure for dealing with complaints relating to the school.
